Teacher plays a song When you are old, of which the lyric was actually a poem written by the famous poet Yeats.

通过一首改编自著名诗人叶芝的诗歌《当你老了》的歌曲,把学生引入诗歌的意境。

复习几种简单的英国诗歌的种类,引出本节课的内容——五行诗。T: What is the literature type of this beautiful lyric?Ss: Poem.T: Yes, we have learned a few simple forms of English poems. What are they?

T: Good! Today we aim to learn how to write the most interesting one --- cinquain.Ss: Nursery rhymes, list poems, cinquain, haiku and tang poems.

五行诗Teacher introduces two kinds of cinquain to students.

Inspired by Japanese haiku, an American poet named Adelaide Crapsey created a simple form of cinquain, which consists of 22 syllables and there are 2-4-6-8-2 syllables in each line. It is called traditional cinquain.

Later, someone developed a simpler form of cinquain, which is called modern cinquain.

Students have a general knowledge about the origin and development of cinquain. They compare the differences between traditional cinquain and modern cinquain, and notice the key point: five lines.
