High School students in Grade 2 have already mastered a certain number of English vocabulary, reading skills and writing skills. They are able to express personal opinions clearly and accurately in English. Meanwhile, Grade 2 students have the ability to study both independently and cooperatively. They have practiced the new writing form, summary writing several times and have a general idea of how to write a summary writing. Therefore, they have a clear strategy about writing a summary. However this is the first period of practicing writing the summary of biographies.

Ⅲ . Teaching Objectives

By the end of the class, students should be able to

Knowledge Objectives

Understand the definition of biography and the basic elements of a biography.

Understand the text correctly and master the strategy of writing the summary of biographies.

2. Ability Objectives

Be clear about the structure of the text.

Be able to make a timeline of the biographee.

Be able to extract the key information in the text.

Be able to decide what information should be included and excluded.

Write the summary of the text by themselves.

Develop the ability of summarizing the key information.

Make use of the skills of writing a summary.

Be aware of self-check after writing.

Understand the importance of Isaac Asimov in the field of writing and artificial intelligence.

Learn from the spirits of Isaac Asimov.
