2.Through scanning and skimming the students’ reading ability will be able to be improved by grasping some detailed information in the dairy.

3.After discovering how the sea creatures are described, students will be aware of different ways to describe things, including some interesting two-part adjectives like:...adj+looking, ...n+shaped, ...yellow+spotted, ...red+striped, ...child+like.

4.After appreciating some remarkable expressions in the text, students will learn to use proper expressions to convey their exact feelings in their past experiences.

Step 1  Warming up & lead-in

First, show students the video “Under the sea” .Ask the following questions:

1. Where is it?

2. What have you seen under the sea in the video?

3. Have you ever gone snorkelling under the sea?

Now,let’s follow the writer to go snorkelling under the sea.

Step 2 Skimming

1. Guess: What's the purpose of this diary ?

A. express his feelings at present.

B. tell us what he did this morning.

C. describe his experience and feelings under the sea.

D. persuade us to go snorkelling.

2. Look through the passage and put the following topics into the correct order according to the text.

Since we can see from the topics, the writer describes her feelings in the first and last paragraphs and the rest paragraphs are used to describe what she saw.
