I. Analysis of the teaching material

Non-finite Verbs have always been a hot grammar item in the College Entrance Examination. V-ing is one of the forms of non-finite verbs. Therefore, v-ing is also always favored by testers. So it is a must for our students to have a good command of v-ing. On the other hand, many students do not do well in exercise about v-ing. Thus, it is quite necessary for teachers to help the students summarize the main testing points of v-ing and improve their ability to solve problems.

II . Analysis of the students

The students I will teach are the ones of Senior Grade 2 from Xia Jiang Senior High School. They are from the common class, so their English is not as excellent as other classes. They have learnt the non-finite verbs, but it is still hard for them to understand this difficult grammar item, especially when it comes to applying it to doing the exercise in the entrance examination. They are also confused about the main testing points of v-ing. Therefore, it is necessary for me to present the main testing points to them and help them to handle the problems while doing exercising concerning v-ing.

III. Teaching Goals

Knowledge and Ability Objectives

Students are able to:

Enable students to learn about the testing points in V-ing;

Encourage them to conclude the rules of v-ing;

learn to describe some pictures, apply v-ing to proof-reading with v-ing;

Moral Objectives

1. Students will be able to become interested in grammar learning.

2. Develop student’s sense of group cooperation.

a. Enhance students’ abilities to master the usages of v-ing.
