Step I Lead-in

Revise the usage of the past participle:

过去分词具有形容词、副词的作用,在句中可以用作定语、表语、宾语补足语和状语,但不能单独构成谓语。

Practice:

1. Most of the people _______ (invite) to the party were my old friends.

2. He looked ________ (worry) after reading the letter.

3. My grandfather had his old house ________ (rebuild).

4. ______ (see) from a distance, the Opera House looks like ship sails.

Step II Main contents: the past participle used as the adverbial

一. 过去分词作状语相当于一个状语从句,表示谓语动作发生的时间、原因、条件、让步、伴随情况等。一般说来,这一结构的逻辑主语是句子的主语。

1、表示时间,相当于一个时间状语从句。

Heated, water changes into steam.
