Through reading and cooperation, the students can know and grasp the

knowledge of the US civil rights.

Ⅱ . Analysis of the students :

The students in my class are poor in English and even some of them have very

few vocabularies. They can’t use the words freely or master the usages of some words. So it is very difficult for them to understand and translate the passage. But as a teacher , I will encourage them to analyze the structure of the passage

and master the main idea of the passage. Through cooperation and communication the students can speak bravely.

Reading

The start of the Civil Right Movement

Ⅰ.Teaching Contents:

The text is about a diary of Maryann Jones, a black woman ,who told the whole event of the blacks fighting for the civil rights through a boycott of the buses and trolleybuses.

Ⅱ.Teaching aims:

1. Knowledge Aim:

The students can understand the process of the movement.

2. Ability Aim:

The students can grasp the ability of reading , listening and comprehending.

3.Moral Aim:

Foster the students' morally sound values, correct outlook on the world and life, boost their love for our country and value today’s happy life.

Ⅲ.Important & difficult points:

The students can grasp the event of fighting for the civil rights of the blacks . The students should build their self-confidence through speaking , discussing and communicating.

Ⅳ.Analysis of the teaching methods and learning methods.

Teaching methods:

As a teacher, I only play the part of instruction---to instruct the students to learn and comprehend the text by themselves. I will take the students as the host and the teacher subordinate .Carry out task-based learning and cooperative learning. Let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language.
