Step 4 Leading-in

1. See a picture of Weifang Kite Festival

2. Ask some questions about it.

e.g. 1. Do you know what festival it is?

It’s Wei Fan g International Kite Festival.

2. Do you like flying kites?

What kind of kites do you have?

Let some students talk about it.

Step 5 Listening

Work on 1a

1. Do you know how to fly a kite? What are kites made of? Write down some materia ls used in making kites.

2. Let students discuss about it. Then write down their answers.

3. Check the answers together:bamboo, steel, paper, clothes, card, knife, scissors and so on.

Step 6 Listening

Work o n 1b

1. Tell students to listen to a conversation between Laura and Zheng Yun and circle the correct answers.

2. Play the recording for the students. Students just listen for the first time. Play the recording again and circle the correct answers.

3. Check the answers.

Work on 1c

1. Let students read the sentences in 1c first. Tell students to listen again and write L for Laura or Z for Zheng Yun.

2. Play the recording again for the students to listen and write the words.

3. students listen to the recording carefully and try to write down their answers.

4. Check the answe rs with the class.
