Step 1 Warming up and Leading in

1. Enjoy an English song “If you are happy”

2.Free talk

Step 2 Pre-task preparation

1.Show some pictures :

1) Students answer some questions .

2) Fill in the blanks.

2.Today we’ll go on our trip. Do you know these places?(show the pictures)

--What animals will you see if you visit the zoo ?

--If I …,I will….

Step 3 While-task procedure

1.Students are required to go over the if conditional adverbial clause that they have learnt ,

and summarize some usages of the “if” conditional adverbial clause orally.

2. Summary:

1 ) We usually use the simple present tense in the if –clause.

2) We usually use the simple future tense in the main clause.

Step 4 Practice

1. Ask some questions

2. Make sentences with the words in the box.

3. Summary :

1) we put a comma after the if –clause when it is the first part of a sentence.

2) We do not use a comma if the main clause comes first.

4. Do some exercises.

Step 5 The expansion of knowledge

1. The different usages of “if” in the Object Clause and the Adverbial Clause.

2. Some typical exercises are shown for students to practice.

Step 6 Exercises

Ss are told to finish the tasks on the paper first.

Step 7 Summary
