1. 教师结合短文内容提出问题，让学生带着问题读短文，了解短文大意。
Question 1: What bad things do we do to our earth?
Question 2: What should we do?
2. 教师播放录音，播放完毕后，随机选出几位学生回答上面的两个问题，检测他们对短文的理解情况。
Answer 1: We cut down too many trees. We waste too much water and make the air dirty.
Answer 2: We should care for our earth. We should do something to make the water and the air clean. We should plant more trees and help the animals.
ⅱ. 阅读理解
1. 让学生读短文的第一、二段，然后用课件展示下列句子，让学生根据阅读的内容补全下列句子：
（1）There are trees, flowers, rivers and on the earth.
（2We cut down trees.
（3）We waste water and make the air .
参考答案：（1）many, mountains （2）too many （3）too much, dirty
2. 教师让学生勾画出各自在阅读课文时遇到的不熟悉的词语，先请同学们根据语境猜猜这些词语的意思，之后教师解疑答惑，讲解短语care for, do bad things to。
（1）care for关心、爱护
（2）do bad things to 对……做坏事，损坏……
（3）让学生以组为单位讨论many, too many, much, too much的用法，最后由学生进行汇总概括，老师进行补充 。
