Teaching steps:

Step one:warm up and lead in

Greeting each other as usual.

T:Hello,boys and girls.

S:Hello,Miss Liao.

Divide the children into four groups.

Sing an English song.Ten little fingers.

Use the fingers to review numbers.

Step two:Presentation

Show a picture about Sam’s birthday party.Let the children know that today is Sam’s birthday.Let the children guess what they are saying.Then everyone count the candles together.

Lead to the new sentence:I’m nine.Let the children know Sam is nine.

Lead to the new question:How old are you?Teacher asks the children”How old are you?”

Then teach and read the new sentences.

Play a game.Let Group 1 ask Group 2,and Group 2 answer and ask Group 3,then Group 3 answer and ask Group 4.At last Group 4 answer.

Step three:New lessons.

Show another picture about Daming.Ask the children to guess what they are saying.

Lead to Daming is six or nine.Then watch a video and find out how old is Daming.

Then talk about why they are laughing at Daming.

Then read the text together.

Step four:Drill

Role play:Choose two groups to act out the text.

Step five:Summary

Tell the students that if you want to know someone’s age, you can use the sentence:How old are you?And you can use the sentence”I’m...” to express yourself age.

Sing an English song.-How old are you,Sam?

Step six:Homework.

Read the text by themselves three times.

Act out the text for their family.

Make a survey among their classmates.
