Step1:Warm up and lead-in

1.学生读题目，引出一般过去时，由be动词的过去式was、were开头的一般疑问句

Contents: Were you at school?

Yes, I was. /No,I wasn’t.

Was it a big city then?

Yes,it was. /No, it wasn’t.

Let’s say a chant and do the actions ,OK?复习反义词，为后边的groupwork铺垫。

Step 2:Presentation

出示运动员的照片，引导孩子们说出strong.

He is strong.出示儿时照片，引出问句Was he strong then?及回答Yes,he was.

出示姚明照片继续学习Was he...?及其回答。

出示深圳的照片，引入课文。

Listening

Firstly,listen and read.学生跟读课文

Secondly,listen and answer the questions.

Who’s he?

Where is he?

Is shenzhen a big city now?

Was it a big city then?

Thirdly,listen and fill in the blanks.

再次出示深圳过去与现在的照片，学习新句型，也让孩子们感受祖国日新月异的变化，开始情感教育，自己一定要好好学习，为自己的未来，为祖国的明天打好基础。

Step 3 Practice.

Pairwork Part 3练习be动词的过去式was、were开头的一般疑问句，及其回答。

Groupwork. Part 6 小组讨论自己手中的图片，说出他们过去(then)和现在(now)的区别

Step 4. Consolidation 学生完成单项选择题，检查并讲解
