Ⅱ. While-reading activities

Watch and match.

Have students to know a top footballer, a famous scientist, the writer of a diary and mother, then watch a video and match the children with their heroes.

Read and find.

Have to students read about Messi and answer 2 questions.

Where is Messi from?

Why is Messi a hero?

Have students to know that Messi’s success was not achieved overnight, but after years of hard training. He is clever and gifted, what’s more, he is also diligent and hardworking. Then make a conclusion that a hero is someone with great spirits that moves you, inspires you and guides you.

Let’s read

Have students to read the passages about Messi emotionally. And say something about Messi.

Read and write T or F.

Have students to read the picture book silently, and finish the worksheet. Teacher will teach give up and move by examples.

Read by yourself

Have students to choose their favourite hero and read with emotions. Then have students to play a game—Let’s dub. They are free to choose one to dub.

Free talk: Who’s the hero around you? And then watch a video---my mum.

Teacher makes a conclusion together with students that a hero could be famous and successful people, but also common one.

Ⅲ. Post-reading activities

1. Production: Make a picture book.

2. Have students to show their production.

3. Let’s make a conclusion that we should try to lean on the spirits of those heroes, and be the hero of our own.

4. Enjoy a video and arouse students’ heroic consciousness and patriotism.
