After learning of last periods, students more or less know something about the past tense. In this unit, we need to consolidate the usage of past tense and make students know how to use them appropriately in their passage to develop their writing ability.

Teaching procedures:

Step 1: Leading-in.

Talk something about the trips to lead in.

Show a video to student and they enjoy Ms. Liu’s trip to Thailand. Then they should read Ms. Liu’s diary about her trip and answer several questions.

Step 3: Work on 3a

First, focus attention on the pictures and ask students to tell what they did. Tehn read Bob’s and Linda’s trip to the zoo and complete their diaries according to the pictures on the textbook.

Step 4: Look and Talk

Let students look at the pictures about their trip and talk about it. It can encourage students to use the sentence patterns to show their opinions about their school trip.

Students work in groups to make an interview. There is a program named Happy School Trip. One student acts as a reporter and the others are the students who had the trip. The reporter should interview the other five students about their trips and then make a report. It can encourage students to describe their school trip and prepare for writing.
