Teaching difficulties: Students can use simple past tense correctly and tell a story in sequence.. Teaching methods: Multi-media showing, cooperative method Teaching aids: 1. PPT 2. cards Teaching procedures

I : Warming up

Free talk : Greeting the students: How are you? How do you feel today?

Divide the students into groups of four, each student has a number card,so in a group they are No.1 to No. 4.

2. Lead-in:Teacher show a paper box to the class: Today, I came to school

with a paper box, can you guess what’s in my box?

Invite some of the students touch the things in the box and guess what

are they.

II :Presentation

1.Tell students we will enjoy a story about a little mouse.

2.Show the main characters in the story.Show the dinner lady,let students guess Who is she? Circle the forks and spoon in the lady’s pocket, let students answer:Where does she work?

3.Show Picture 1 of the story,use TPR to show “handle with care”and let the students do the actions.

4.Show picture 5: How did the little mouse feel? Why did the little mouse feel so sad?

5.Show picture 6-7,ask the students: what happened then? Let the student guess.

6.Task 1:have students listen to the story with different tasks:

Questions before story; Where did the mouse go? Who did the little mouse meet? What did they say? What did they do?

Ask the students who has number card 1 to focus on the question:Where did the mouse go? Ask the students who has number card 2 to focus on the question:Who did the little mouse meet? Ask the students who has number card 3 to focus on the question: What did they say?Ask the students who has number card 4 to focus on the question: What did they do?

Show picture 11 of the story and ask: If you were the dinner lady, what would you do?

Show picture 13 of the story and ask: If you were the cat, what would you say?

Show picture 11 of the story and ask: If you were the big bird, what would you say?

Let students answer the questions in sequence.

III .Practice

11.Task 2: Group work

Let students work in a group of four to retell the story, use the sequence words; first,second, then,finally.

Teacher:Where was the little mouse? Can you guess? Let the students guess where would the mouse go.
