Part 1

Step1. class-greeting.

Step2. Getting Ready

It will take 7 minutes. After the brief greeting, I will show two pictures related to the topic on the screen and ask the Ss to choose which road they will choose. After they make the choices, I will give them a hint that though the diverged roads seem identical, they actually lead to different directions. Then I will give them an example. When MaYun was young , there were two roads in front of him. And he chose road A to be a businessman. Then I will show the Ss a video about the process. After the Ss enjoy the video, I will make a conclusion of what MaYun has achieved. Then I will ask the Ss a question to lead them. If MaYun had chosen road B, what he would be now ? Then I will show some pictures where MaYun acts like a teacher on the platform to the Ss. And the Ss are also in the pictures. After all of these, a vital question will be raised. Which road is better? The Ss have different answers. As a famous poet Shakespeare has said: to be or not to be, that is a question. But I will conclude that it is the road that one chooses that makes the man who he is. Thus, the Ss will be clear of this rule. Then I will give another example to them. It is the poet Robert Frost. I will introduce him briefly through some pictures. When he was young , there were also two roads in front him. He chose road A to be a poet rather than to be a teacher. Then I will tell the Ss that about choosing road A or road B , he has written a poem. That’s what we will learn today. The purpose of this activity is to stimulate students’ interest related to our topic and lead them .

Part 2

Step1.Scanning

In this step, let students read the poem quickly: The Road Not Taken. After reading, Ss should be able to find out the rhyme of this poem.

(Read the first stanza and find out the rhyme. Words that rhyme with each other have a very similar sound and are often used in poems.)

At first, I will show them what is the rhyme and how to find out the rhyme based on another poem of William Butler Yeats.

When You Are Old

---William Butler Yeats

When you are old and grey and full of sleep,

And nodding by the fire, take down this book,

And slowly read, and dream of the soft look,

Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

sleep---deep---/i:p/ A

book---look---/?k/? B

rhyme : A B B A
