内容预览

重点: 在美国地图上识别各地区,通过阅读美国特色地区天气情况的语言材料,提取各地区天气情况,最佳出行时间以及出行建议的相关信息。

难点:

1.借助美国地图,用because和so 引导的原因状语从句复述美国各地区的天气情况及建议。

2.通过阅读和组内交流搜集信息,扩充语料的输入, 仿写中国某地旅游的最佳时间并给出旅行的建议。

教学活动

Step 1: Warm-up and Lead-in

After greeting, ask the Ss the following questions:

T: What’s the weather like today? S: It’s sunny. / It’s cool in the morning but hot in the afternoon, etc.

T: Which season is it now? What’s the weather like here in spring/summer/autumn/winter? Which season do you like best? Why?

T: My favourite season is spring, because all the living things come to life. Trees turn green and flowers come out, it’s really beautiful. Spring is also a good season for travelling. Do you like travelling? Do you want to travel abroad?

设计意图:通过与学生的free talk谈论今天的天气与本地各个季节的气候,复习了上一单元所学的天气的词汇及表达方式,自然地导入新课的话题,激发学生参与课堂活动的热情,拉近师生关系,为接下来的教学做好铺垫。

Step 2. Pre-reading

T: Today I will show you around a country. Let’s enjoy some beautiful sceneries and find where it is.

Then ask the students to watch a collection of pictures in different places and seasons in the US .

T: Which country is it? Is it beautiful? S: The US. T: Yes. The US is a big and beautiful country. Let me show you the US on the map. Show the map of the US and teach : mile, 1mile≈1.6km, Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean. On the Pacific coast.

T: When will you go if you have a chance to visit the US? Why?

S1: I’ll go in summer holiday or winter holiday, because I am a student and I’m busy on school days. Only on holidays, I am free.

S2: I’ll go in winter, because …

T: But when is the best time to go? It’s hard to say. Today,we are going to read a passage about it . What’s the writer’s idea?

设计意图:通过观看美国不同季节、不同地方的风景,让学生直观地感受美国不同季节的美景,激发学生对美国的好奇心和兴趣,通过美国地图的呈现让学生对美国的地理位置及国家的大小有了初步的了解。让学生思考如果有机会去美国旅游他们去的时间来激发学生的思维,让学生把旅游与旅游时间及天气等联系起来,引出了文章标题和激发起学生的阅读兴趣。

Step3. While-reading

1. Read for the title.

Skim the first and last paragraphs then answer:

1.When is the best time to visit the US?

2. Is it great to visit any place at any time in the US? Why?

设计意图:引导学生抓住关键句快速阅读,验证自己的观点和作者观点的异同,同时通过挖掘文本, 加强学生思维能力的培养。

Read for the places are mentioned.

T: From the first paragraph, we know that we should visit different places at different time in the US. The writer showed us the best time to visit some famous places in the US. Let’s read and find where they are.

Ask the students Scan paragraph 2 to 6 and answer:
