ⅤTeaching Steps

Step 1 Warming-up/lead-in

1. Watch the video about seeing the doctor, and ask the students something about it, then ask them to talk about their feeling(free talk) : How are you feeling today?

2. Show some pictures and let the students learn the new words and phrases

3. Match the words and expressions in the box with the pictures.

Ask the whole class: What’s the matter with him / her?

Step 2 Listen and talk

Ask the students to listen and check (√) what’s wrong with Betty and Daming. Then Check the answers in class.

2. Listen again and complete the dialogue, and ask the whole class to read the dialogue together.

3. Ask them: What should you do if you don’t feel well?

And give some advice : We should ...(go to see the doctor / dentist; drink lots of water; get plenty of rest; take some medicine)

Discuss and tell how to ask and answer when you are ill.

Do you remember the last time you went to see a doctor?

If you go to see a doctor, what will the doctor ask you?

.How do you tell the doctor?

医生常问问题:

What’s wrong with you?/ What’s the matter with you? 哪儿不舒服吗?

Are you feeling well? 现在感觉好些了吗?

How long have you been like this? 你像这样有多久了?

Do you cough? Do you feel tired? 你咳嗽吗?觉得疲惫吗?

病人的回答:I have a headache/ cough/ fever. I feel terrible/ bad. I don’t feel well. It hurts here. I can’t sleep well.

Step 3 Listen and read (Learning the dialogue).

Watch the video, then answer the question: Does Daming have a healthy life?

2. Do the exercise:choose the best answers and check.

First, ask the students to do it by themselves, they must find out the reason from the dialogue to support their opinions, then they can discuss in groups. Check the answers in Class at last.

Read and complete the table about Daming. Do it by the whole class then discuss in groups then check the answers.

Read the passage with the tape .

Act out the dialogue in groups loudly . (group work)
