Teaching Procedures:

Step1 Warming-up and lead-in

1. Enjoy an English song about traveling to warm up.

2. Introduce myself to the students. Tell them that my hobby is travelling and my opinion about travelling. Present the object clauses to the students. Ask their opinion about traveling.

3. Watch a video about Zhangjiajie. Ask: What’s the video about & What can you see in the video.

Step2 Pre-reading

Show some pictures to teach the vocabulary, such as: square, kilometers, shape, human, etc.

Step3 While-reading

1. Skimming

1. Read the passage quickly and answer the questions:

What’s the type of the passage?

What’s the beginning and the ending of the passage?

2. Scanning

2. Read the main body of the email quickly and match the headings with the six paragraphs.

3. Close reading

1. Read Para2 and fill in the blanks about the facts of Zhangjiajie.

How large is it?

Where is it?

What can you see?

What is special?

2. Report as a guide.

3. Read Para3,4,5,6 and answer the questions:
