The students are the ninth graders who have the basic abilities of listening, speaking ,reading , writing and translating. They are eager to know new things but have difficulties in critical thinking and discourse analysis.

三教学目标

Based on the analysis of the teaching material and the target students, the teaching purposed are designed as follows:

By the end of the class ,the students will be able to:

understand the key vocabulary(serve, similar, cross) and grammar be done)

get intercultural knowledge about western eating customs and compare them with Chinese ( when to eat, how to eat, what to say/do)

apply effective learning tips and reading skills for prediction, structure and details

promote understanding and respect of cultural differences

fast-reading

1 ask students to skim through the article ,match the summary sentences and train students to get the structure and main idea.

2 give some minutes to look through the passage and answer the questions
