Major Teaching Difficulties:

To most junior high school students, they haven’t established the ability of enjoying and creating literature. Therefore, in this lesson, the most difficult point is how to guide the students to create their own poems step by step.

Teaching procedures:

1. Share three different styles of poems with students and let students understand the features of the poems: rhyme, omission, repetition, metaphor/simile, personification and creation.

2. Invite several students to share their articles about pets (animals).

3. Guide the students to learn from the sample article poppy the cat in the textbook and let students know that if they want to write an article about pets(animals), they can write from the following aspects: appearance, quality, lifestyle, how to take care of…

4. Encourage the students to work in groups to create a poem according to the sample article poppy the cat, and then share their group work in class.

5. Ask the students to revise their articles and create their own poems according to their own articles.

6. Homework: Polish their articles and poems.
