教师通过向学生提问,激活他们的已有知识,教师询问:When’s your birthday? Do you want to have a birthday party? 引入本课时语言情景。教师继续问学生:

Where will you have the party?

What food will you have?

Who will you invite to your party?

How will you invite your friends to your party?

教师可继续提问,呈现新知识。告诉学生,如果想邀请老师长辈,要用比较正式的邀请方式,引入邀请函的话题。

Who are you going to invite to your birthday party? If you want to invite your teachers to your party, you should write them an invitation letter. It’s a polite and formal way.

Step 2 Practice

Suzy is going to have a birthday party at her home. Listen to her invitation letter and answer the following questions.

When and where is Suzy going to have her birthday party?

(She’s going to have the party at home this weekend.)

What time will the party start? (It’ll start at 2p.m. on Sunday, 21 April.)

What will her parents prepare for the children?

(Her parents will prepare plenty of food and drinks for them.)

What will they do at the party? (They’ll play some games.)

What else is in Suzy’s invitation? (A map and directions.)

让学生根据问题开展讨论,必要时可以再播放一遍录音。

Step 3 Presentation

呈现A部分邀请函的正文,告诉学生这是邀请函的正确书写格式,请学生注意邀请函的称呼和结束语。

教师解释重点句型:

I would like to invite you to a party.

I am looking forward to seeing you at my party.

Step 4 Practice

让学生归纳邀请函要清楚地给出哪些信息:日期、时间、地点、活动或聚会的类型。

再次播放录音,学生大声跟读。

Step 5 Presentation

You invite some friends to your party. But if your friends don’t know the way to your home, what should you do? 学生会有各种回答,教师要加以点评,及时给予肯定,只有方法得当都可以。You have many ways to your home. The best way is a map. You can put a map in your invitation. It’s easy and will help your friends find your home.

呈现B部分的地图,让学生以四人小组的形式讨论,写出从地铁站出来到Suzy家的行走路线。There’s also a map in Suzy’s invitation letter. The map shows the way to Suzy’s home. Please read it and discuss how to get to her home.

Step 6 Practice

学生在班级内交流讨论结果,教师收集学生写的不同行走路线,请部分学生上台展示他们的路线,对所有写出正确路线的学生给予鼓励和表扬。
