Step 1 Free talk & presentation

T: We know there are four seasons in a year. Which is your favourite season? And why?

T: What’s the weather like today? = How is the weather today?

How do you feel? A bit cold. The wind is blowing hard. (图)

What’s the lowest temperature?

So we can say it is cloudy on Thursday with a high of … and a low of …

-2℃ minus two degrees // two degrees below zero

T: What will the weather be like tomorrow?

Look at the map. Let’s learn more expressions about weather report.

The temperature will drop below zero, to -19℃ in Harbin.

The temperature will stay above zero in Nanjing.

The temperature will rise to 29℃ in Sanya.

Step 2 Presentation A1

We know different weather in different seasons and places. Here are some weather reports for different seasons in Beijing. Please write the possible season under each report. First I ask one student to read it for us.

( Snowstorm means heavy snow.

In summer, the temperature is usually above 30. It is between 30 and 39. So we can say the temperature is in the thirties.

Spring is a perfect time to fly kites.

Step 3 Listening A2

Where can we learn about the weather report? From TV, the radio, the mobile phone…

Simon is listening to the weather report on the radio. Here are four cities mentioned.

They are New York, London and Sydney.

Now it is winter in China. Which season is it in Australia?

When it is winter in China, it is summer in Australia.
