1. Look at a picture about DIY. Help the students to get information about DIY from the picture as
much as possible.

2. Introduce the origin of DIY in simple English with the help of pictures.
T: The concept of DIY started from the 1960s in the West. It is said that Barry Bucknell,
was the first person who defined the concept of DIY. He was a British TV presenter and craftsman, D stands for “do”, I stands for “it”, Y stands for “yourself”. When people do DIY, they make, repair or decorate things with their own hands instead of paying someone to do it.
