Step1 Revision

Ask the students to say the types of books that they have learned in this unit.

Step2 Lead-in

1. Show them the pictures of some children’s book. Tell them the book in the middle is called Paddington bear? It’s very famous in England. Now it has been made into a film. Have you seen the film? What is this film about?

2. Show them a film review about the film and teach them some new words.

Step3 Grammar1

1. Enjoy a short part of the film. See what happens to the bear when he arrives in London. Guess what he wants to know at this time.

2. Help the students find out all the question words and sum up the first structure “verb + question words + to do”

3. Remind them there are some tips

1) All question words can be used in this way, except “why”.

2) When the subjects are the same, we can use question words and to-infinitives.

3) Add a preposition when necessary.

4.Tell the students Paddington bear wants to go to buy his favourite food---marmalade. But he doesn’t know where to buy in London.Show them a food map. The map tells him where to find nice food.

5. Help the students sum up the second structure “verb + object + question words + to do”

6. The map also shows him which bus to take. Help the students sum up the third structure “verb + (object) + question words + noun + to do”

7. Find out what question words can be used in this way? (which, what, whose, how many/much)

8. Translate some sentences:

9. Tell the students now Paddington has another problem. He is not sure how much money to take. The map doesn’t include it.

10.Ask the if the structure changes again? Sum up the last structure “adjective + question words + to do”

11.Work out the rules and fill in the blanks.

12. Page 55 Complete the dialogue

Step4 Grammar2

1. Tell the students when the bear does something bad, Mr. Brown may say “You mustn’t do it.”

2. Show the students different situations. Help them sum up the following rules.

1). We use must when the speaker feels that something is necessary.

2). We use have to when the situation makes something necessary.

3). We use must not to say that something is not allowed.

4). We use do not have to to say that it is not necessary to do something.

3. Do exercises on page 56.

Amy is telling her cousin Shirley some library rules. Complete what she says with must, must not, have to or don’t have to.
