2．目标确立

（1）教材分析

本模块以Unexplained Mysteries of the Natural World为话题，通过介绍UFO,百慕大三角，尼斯湖水怪，喜玛拉雅山雪人，恐龙的灭绝等引出所学文章内容天池怪物，旨在通过模块教学使学生进一步认识我们所处的世界，引起他们对自然奥秘的兴趣，从而激发为之努力学习，不断探索的精神。同时通过学习本模块内容，锻炼学生搜集和区分信息的能力，并且利用所学词汇表达描述自然现象。在本模块中，Reading and Vocabulary 部分通过课文《天池怪物》的学习，使学生学会根据起始段落预测文章出处；学会提取文章主要信息，归纳文章的主旨大意；根据上下文正确理解生词含义。

（2）学情分析。本次授课学生为高一年级学生，在完成前三册书的学习以后，虽然基本适应了高中英语学习，并掌握了一定量的词汇，能够用英语进行一定层次的交流，但这些学生的能力较弱，所以，在阅读授课中要放低起点。在必要的时候要进行语言知识的点拨，以便帮助学生扫清阅读障碍。

3. 教学目标：

1）、知识目标： a.学习新闻的描述性语言 b. 说出与自然界难解之谜有关的词汇，短语，能灵活运用文中新学知识语言介绍我国某种神秘的生物或现象。

2）、技能目标：通过各个阅读环节的训练培养学生在阅读中的预测能力、发散思维能力，获取信息的能力，推理能力以及合作探究的精神；培养学生的听说能力以及小组成员合作探究意识。

3）、情感目标：通过指导学生对本文知识的学习与探讨，进一步增强他们对自然世界的认识，从而激发他们为解释自然奥秘发奋学习的热情；同时培养他们学会沟通，学会合作的意识以及树立科学的人生观和世界观。

4. 教学重难点

Teaching Important Goals:

1). To let Ss master how to get useful information from a passage.

2). To let Ss master some words and phrases.

3). To get Ss to talk something about a monster.

Teaching Difficult Goals:

1). To make students talk freely about what they know about the mystery in the world.

2). To have students retell some detailed information about the three sightings of the monster.

5. 教学过程（Teaching procedures）

Step 1 Lead-in

Show some pictures of the UFO, the Bermuda Triangle, the Yeti and the Loch Ness monster to make students know there are many mysterious things in the world. Then show the picture of Lake Tianchi and ask the students some questions about Lake Tianchi.

Qs: How much do you know about Lake Tianchi? Do you think the large animals can live here? Why?

T: some people believe there is a large monster in Lake Tianchi, do you believe it? Now, let’s read the passage to learn more about it.

Step 2 Reading

Skimming

Ask Ss to read the beginning of the passage and finish Activity 1 on page 52.

Read the beginning of the passage and decide where it comes from.
