Lead students to read a man’s story about what happened to the Amber Room and fill in the table about some key information.

(2) Raise questions: Do you think the story is a fact or an opinion?

Step 2 Reading

(1) Students are required to read the passage A fact or an Opinion and to find out the definitions of “fact” “opinion” “evidence”.

(2) Read some statements and decide whether they are facts or opinions.

(3) Answer the question in Step 1: Do you think the story is a fact or an opinion?

Step 3 Listening

Pre-listening: Present some new words in the reading passages.

While-listening: Listen to another two stories about the Amber Room. Fill the key information in the blanks while listening.

Post-listening: Tell the two stories according to what you have heard.

Step 4 Speaking (Group Discussion)

Ask the students about the expressions used to ask for opinions and give opinions.

Have a discussion on the topic of “Which person gave the best evidence?”

Ask some group reporters to report the result of the discussion.

Step5 Homework

(1) Each Group writes a report about the group discussion.

(2) Finish the translation exercise on Page 425 mins
