教学过程:

Step 1: Revision :

Ask students “why do you like travel”?

Introduce the topic of “life is journey”, enjoying the charming pictures along the trip to the north.

Journey is to me what an engine is to a machine. It can refresh your spirits….

Step 2: Speaking activities :

(suppose you are Li Daiyu, select a picture and describe the scenery along the trip)

Present several pictures, and ask students to talk about pictures by using the sentences in the textbook.

Step 3: Discussion :

Discuss what makes the sentences beautiful. Underline the important parts.

Surrounded by mountains and the Pacific Ocean, Vancouver is Canada’s most beautiful city.

Skiing in the Rocky Mountains and sailing in the harbor make Vancouver one of the most popular cities to live in.

When crossing the Rocky Mountains, they managed to catch sight of some mountain goats and even a grizzly bear and an eagle.

In the distance, they could see the misty cloud that rose from the great Niagara Falls, which is on the south side of the lake.

Because of the Great Lakes , Canada has more fresh water than any other country in the world.
