The topic of this unit is theme parks. The reading passage with the name Theme Park---Fun more than fun is the central part which mainly introduces three different kinds of theme parks . They’re Disneyland park , Dollywood and Camelot park. As the topic and the reading passage contain rich cultural information , and most of the students may have had experiences in visiting ordinary parks, even theme parks , firstly the teacher let students have a free talk about the parks they have visited or known . To understand the passage better ,the students are required to skim the passage first to find the main idea of each paragraph.From learning the passage ,students can get more about theme park, and have a dream of building their own theme parks,creating a more beautiful world.

II. The analysis of the students

As Senior 1 students, their English learning abilities are not so good , such listening, speaking, reading and writing. In addition, they have known so much about ordinary parks. This basic foundation can make them understand “theme parks” easily. Therefore, they are supposed to have the ability to enjoy the three theme parks. What’s more, as far as I know about them, around one-third of them enjoy reading English and get more information about theme parks. So it’s easy for them to finish the tasks. However, a small number of my students are poor in English, for whom it’s necessary to finish the task with the help of the patterns given and their group members. In short, most students can fulfill the tasks given.

III. Teaching aims

1. Knowledge and skills

Help students to grasp the ability to use the key words and expressions concerning theme parks.

2. Process and methods

A. Have a free talk for fun and relaxation and then naturally lead to the topic——Theme Park---Fun more than fun.

B. By skimming, students get the main idea of three theme parks introduced in the reading passage ; By careful reading ,students master the details of each parks; By group discussion, students should share their feelings and thoughts with each other to show their dreams of building their own theme parks for others; By playing a game , students can grasp the ability of introducing a place.

C. To consolidate the learning contents, the students should be required to sum up what they learn.

3. Emotion, attitude and value

A. To develop the students’ interest in learning the development of theme parks and therefore learning differences between theme parks and ordinary parks.

B. To cultivate the students’ sense of cooperative learning.

C. To cultivate students’ expression of their own dreams .

D.To instruct students to be full of dreams in their hearts and make the dreams come true.

IV. Teaching important points

1. Get the students to know about different types of parks and tell differences between theme parks and ordinary parks .

2. Students gain a good understanding of the reading passage and know the real meaning of the title.

1.How to encourage students to talk about theme parks freely.

2. How to let the students design their own parks.
