T: Hello, everyone. Welcome to the English class. Last time, we learned an interesting story about a robot and a lady. Today, we’ll move to the second part of this Unit.

So many times, we hear people say English is hard to learn just because of such great number of words. Others may say they do not know how to improve their English writing, though they have known many words. So, in today’s class, please follow me and let me show you one of the ways to enlarge your vocabulary and learn how to improve your writing by using these words.

T: Ok, boys and girls, Can you tell me something about this video? What is it about? What impressed you most?...

S: (different answers…)

T: Yes. I have the same feeling as you about what we saw just now. Now, it’s time for me to show you how to review and enlarge your vocabulary based on just one word “Robot”.

(Write “Robots” on the blackboard)

T: When we see a robot or this word, we may think of different things. As for me, the first thing I think of is “AI”---artificial intelligence (They are man-made machine but they are so smart.) The second thing I think of are the two words: “Android & Humanoid”. Do you know these words? “Android” is another name for “robot” and “Humanoid” refers to a robot which looks like a human being. I think most of us got to know Robot from science fictions, which are stories or novels full of imagination, just like the text we learned.

I hope in the near future, I can also have a household robot which can do me a favor, helping me with the housework, so that I can set aside more time to satisfy my desire for many other interesting things I wish to do. Maybe it can also do me a favor to scan my homework and find out my mistakes. I believe the robot can go through things carefully and quickly. Or help me ring my friend up when I need to make a call. A household robot can be such a bonus, which gives me much more advantage in life.

So now you see what I think of when I talk about ROBOTS? And have you noticed that I used so many words to talk about robots? Let’s go over them again. Let me see whether you are smart enough to catch all of them.
