In this period students will be first helped by the teacher to discover and learn to use some useful words and collocations, and then to discover and revise the past participle . The following steps of teaching may be taken: checking homework of looking for the Past Participle ,Review the past participles,Doing exercises.

Objectives

To help students revise the Past Participle

To help students discover and learn the difference between the past participle and the present participle when they used as the adverbial.

Procedures

1. check homework of looking for the Past Participle in the reading Hi, class. Let’s go over the play Fateful Meetings to look for examples of the Past Participle

2. Review the past participles

The past participles can used as attribute, predicative, object complement and the adverbials. Look at the following examples:

Attribute

1.)___Polluted____ (污染) air and water are harmful to people’s health.

2. )The problem _discussed__ (讨论) at the meeting yesterday was very difficult to solve.

3.) The meeting _heid_ (举行) yesterday was very important.

Predicative

1. )I am _interested__(感兴趣) in the story.

2.) He became excited_ (兴奋) when he heard he had won the first place in the competition.

3.) He looked _worried_ (忧虑) after reading the letter.

Object complement

1.) I haven’t got the film _developed__ (冲洗) yet.

2. )She had her wallet _stolen__(偷) yesterday.

能够接过去分词作宾补的动词有:

1) 表示感觉或心理状态的动词; see, hear, watch, notice, feel, find, think, suppose, consider等;

2) 动词-ed形式可作使役动词的宾语补足语, 这类动词包括make, get, have, keep, leave, hold等

3) 动词-ed形式可作表示希望、要求、命令等动词的宾语补足语,这类动词包括

like, want, wish, expect, order等

4) 过去分词用在“with/without+宾语+宾补”这一结构中, 过去分词与宾语之间是动宾关系。
