In previous lessons, students have learned about the usage of the attributive clause and this class aims to test whether they have mastered the usage and whether they are good at it.

Step1. lead-in

Teacher asks questions: who can remember what we did last lesson? do you think you have done well in it? Then lead in the topic naturally.

Step2. background information of the game

Teacher will introduce her and students’ roles in the game. Teacher is the famous detective Conan and students are the passengers on the ship. During this step, teacher play the background sound.

Step3. find the clues about the killer

Teacher present a sentence that the killer wrote and ask students to conclude the feature of the killer: the killer isn’t good at using the attributive clause.

Step4. judge the two main suspects

Teacher presents two suspects: Mary’s boyfriend John and her sister Lucy. Firstly let students listen to the conversation about John and Mary, then judge whether John is the main suspect and whether he had any reason to kill Mary. Then show the dialogue about Mary and Lucy, let students judge whether Lucy is the main suspect and whether she had any reason to kill Mary.

Step5. show you are innocent

Teacher show an example about showing you are innocent, write down the evidence: where you were; what you were doing and who you were with when Mary was killed.

Use at least 3-4 attributive clauses. Then divide students into six groups, each group present their evidence, then choose the winner.
