III. The analysis of the students:

The 51 students of class 6 are on an average level. Their ability for reading comprehension, especially the blank-filling reading needs to be improved.They have learned some great inventors and inventions, and the six stages of making an invention in theory. So in this class, they are expected to learn a real case of applying these six stages to solve a problem. In the meantime, they have to accomplish the reading comprehension and blank filling reading with the help of using mind-map.

IV. Teaching aims:

1. Target language

1) To learn the 6 stages of the research.

2) To apply the topic expressions.

3) To cultivate students ability to decode the structure of the passage

2. Study abilities:

1) To apply the organizing method of passage and paragraphs by using mind-map

2) To develop students ability to get information, to judge and analyze and to predict from the title and the pictures

3) To develop the ability to summarize the main idea of each part through the key information.

3. Thinking abilities:

To develop students critical thinking, creativity and dispersing thinking ability through group discussion.

4. Culture awareness:

1) To arouse the love to create something useful and to make an experiment in real life.

2) To cultivate the love for science.

3) To arouse the awareness of respecting others’ patent and copyright.

Students can analyze the structure and summarize the main idea of each part by using mind-map.

Students can solve the blank-filling reading by applying the method of decoding the structure of the passage.
