教学过程： Procedure
Step1 Greeting and introduction
Hi, kids! Welcome to my lesson. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Jojo. I love to challenge myself and try anything with my classmates. So they always call me “Super Jojo”.
Step2 The rule in this class
And I love Lego, too. On the table of each group, there is a Lego floor and some Lego blocks. One student answers one question, the group leader puts one Lego block on the Lego floor. One group show in front of the class, the group gets five blocks. At the end of the lesson, the group which gets the most Lego blocks will be the winner and get prizes.
Step3 Lead-in
I also have a prize for the birthday person. “Whose birthday is today?” or “Whose birthday is in May?” Let’s sing the birthday song for her/him. And I’ll give her/him a gift. Then ask questions “What do you usually eat on your birthday?” “Who makes the food for you?” .
One of our friends wants to make food because her mom’s birthday is coming. Do you know her—Peppa Pig?
Step4 Fast reading
Read the passage and find out what food she can make.
—A birthday cake with a candy inside. Because the person with the candy is lucky in the UK.
Step5 Careful reading
1. Read the passage again for more information about birthday cakes.
2. Read carefully to find the food we eat on birthday in China and why we eat them.
Step6 Extensive reading
Watch a video about birthday food in other countries and find out how many countries there are in it. Then match the countries (Denmark, Korea and Australia) with the pictures. Then find out the special meaning about the seaweed soup in Korea.
Step7 Mind map about the structure of the passage
Though the birthday foods are different, they have the same meaning—they bring good luck to the birthday person.
Step8 The Sound (Dub for the video)
Mummy Pig’s birthday is coming. Peppa’s family prepare lots of surprises for her. Jojo with other teachers shows how to dub Mummy Pig’s Birthday.
Then, the group leader chooses the scene to dub. Group members choose the roles and practice quickly by their pads. Follow the video to dub for at least once.
Show in front of the class in groups.
Step9 Emotion promotion
Mummy Pig is the luckiest, how about your mother? Did you do something for your mother before on her birthday? Who remembers your mother’s birthday?
Then tell them Jojo’s story between Jojo and her daughter. Every mother is a Super Mom, even much GREATER than a super hero.
Birthday is the day your mom gave you the life, birthday is the day you should say “Thank you” to your mom, birthday is the day you should do something for your mom, for example, make a bowl of long noodles for her.
Step10 Evaluation
Who is the winner? Give them the prizes.
Step11 Homework
Say “Thank you” to your mother and hug your mother.
