To master the usage of the attributive clause

Enable the students to use the attributive clause correctly and practice what they have learned into their writing.

To build up the confidence of using the attributive clause.

Teaching difficulties:

How to inspire and guide students to write an essay by using attributive clause.

The analysis of the lesson:

The attributive clause plays an important part in English. If students can raise the awareness of using it, they will find it easy to write a logic and coherent article.

The analysis of the students:

Although the students have already learned attributive clauses, some students may not be aware of using them in their writing. Besides, when they attempt to write sentences with attributive clause, they always use relative words inaccurately, we always find a common phenomena in students’ writing that there is no main clause in the sentence.

Step 1: lead in and discovery

Teacher choose a topic which students will be faced with in the coming summer vacation, and make dialogues with students. At the same time, teacher show some pictures and sentences for students and then guide them to focus on the form and function of attributive clause.

Step 2: Generalize the rules

Teacher lead students to draw a conclusion of the rules of the attributive clause.

Step 3:Apply what we have learned

There are three kinds of activities to raise students’ awareness of using attributive clause and to help them use it flexibly.

Task 1: Blank-filling

1. I will pay a visit to the countryside__________ my grandparents live.

2. I intend to make a trip to Hangzhou, _______ is famous for the West Lake.
