Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Greeting.

---Good morning,boys and girls. ---Good morning,Ms Tan.

Step 2. Check the students’ homework.

1. Places: post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay phone, park,etc.(pictures)

2. Drill: ---Is there a hospital near here?

----Yes, there is. It’s on Bridge Street.(show them picture)

Step 3. Presentation.

Preview 3 prepositions(in, on, under)

Show 6 prepositions(across from, next to, in front of, behind, between…and, on.) on PPT.

Ask 3 students (named them Tom, Peter and Lucy) to act the 6 prepositions out, then get the students to guess their meanings.

Ask the students to read the words 3 times.

Ask 3 students to perform the 6 prepositions occasionally, then get the students to guess what it is.

Make the students (4 groups) describe their places by using the 6 prepositions one by one in group.

For example, Group 1. in front of He is in front of me. She is behind me.

Step 4. Listening.

Get the students to read the questions.

Play the tape to the students . (once, if necessary, twice)

Finish off 2b on page 44.(ask one of them one by one.)

Get them to read the listening after the tape.

Get the students to read altogether.

Step 5. Practice.

Do 2c. Ask and answer questions about the places in 1a on page 43.

Where is hospital?

Where is restaurant?

Where is police station?

Where is bank?

Where is hotel?

Where is post office?

Where is pay phone?
