叙述曾经有的特别的事情,注意一般过去时态和过去完成时的区别及运用。

三、教学过程

Ⅰ. Warm-up

Greeting.

Ⅱ. Lead-in

Show some pictures and a short movie about Wenchuan earthquake ,the typhoon,911attack and so on. Revise by the time...and present some new words and phrase like event,rise...by describing them.

After recognizing these events ,let students understand this sentence.--The bad luck can unexpected turn into a good thing.

Ⅲ. Reading

1.Warming up

Let know more thing about the terrible event according to the short movie and pictures,.Ask students to describe them with questions like this:What can you see in the picture?

On September 11, 2001, something unexpected happened in America. A plane hit the World Trade Center.The buildings were burning. And the black smoke rose above the two buildings... ...

2.Fast reading. Look through the passage find out the main ideas of each paragraph.

3.Careful Reading. Firstly,read and complete the chart.Secondly,read again and tell true or false about these sentences ,then correct them.Thirdly,according to the information in the passage,find words from the passage with opposite meanings to the words and make sentences.Finally,ask students to answer them one by one.

4.Retell the story. Make a interviewer about these two events in pairs.Then let some pairs act in the front. Ask them to use the important phrases to help them.

Ⅳ. Further Reading.

Discuss in groups.Provide them with a question.What should we do when the unexpected things happen?

Ask students to add more topics about the unexpected around us.Discuss with each other and find out more ways to solve them.At last,let two groups give a report.

Correct the answers and tell them how to deal with the unexpected things.

Ⅴ.Writing

According to the topic of this passage ,ask students to write a composition like this in our daily lives.The title is A/an________Day/Thing.

Then choose one or two students’ compositions, Take photos of them and show them on the screen through the Internet. Read and explain them.

Ⅵ. Summary

Use these sentences to summarize.
