Lesson duration: 40mins

Textbook: The textbook for the 2nd semester of grade 7 of junior high school from People's Education Press.

II. Teaching objectives:

Language knowledge:

Topic: what does he look like?

Pronunciation: pronounce new vocabulary such as: like,look like,short,hair, curly,straight , height,thin,heavy,build , 90% of the pronunciation should be correct and be fluent in oral communication;

Vocabulary: speak and spell the difficult nouns correctly such as

straight, height and build;

(4) Grammar: figure out the different uses of the two words: do and does…;

(5) Function: use sentence structures correctly “What do you look like? I’m thin.What does he/she look like? He/She is tall” to ask questions about people’s portrait.

2. Language skills:

Talk about people’s portrait with the words and phrases we learned in Section A of this unit.

Affect:

speak loudly to talk about their portrait of their classmates;

strengthen their motivation and interest in speaking English and build up confidence to use English to express themselves;

build up the cooperative spirit by pair work and group work.

Learning strategy:

Use key words as clues to talk about people’s portrait

Cultural awareness:

Have the consciousness to respect people and do not let them judge a man by his portrait.

III.Teaching contents:

Structure: The sentence structure in Section A 1a to describe people’s portrait.

(1)What do you look like?

(2)What does she look like?

2. Vocabulary: The words in Section A 1a in Unit9.

(1)nouns: straight, height and build.

IV. Focal points:

At the end of the class, students should be able to describe their classmates’ portrait with the words they have learned in Section A.

V. Difficult points:

At the end of the class, students should be able to describe people’s portrait, especially she/he and names.
