Step1 Lead in
At first , let’s sing a song《I can sing it well》to relax ourselves.
Step2 Pre-reading
(1)Make sentences one by one in your line,using the sentence pattern:“What can you do?— I can do…,but I can’t do …”.
(If the last student finish it ,stand up. Let’s find which group is the fastest.)
(2)Analyse the usage of “could/couldn’t” according to some pictures,and summarize.
Step3 While-reading
“Today our four friends come here , do you want t know what they do or couldn’t do?”
(1)Skim the passage and answer the following questions:
What is the passage talking about?
(Teach the students how to find the answer,and give them the tip: Sometimes we can get the main idea from the first and last sentence.)
(2)Read 1a again,and divide the passage into three parts.
(Analyse the reason of dividing and summarize the structure “deduction and summary”)
(3)Read 1a carefully and fill in the table in 1b.
(Teach the students how to find the answer, and know about the way of scanning.)
Step4 Post-reading
Retell the contents according to the table.
Work in groups. Survey the group members about the activities they could/couldn’t do in the past and they can do now.Then report it to the class. The rest should make an objective evaluation for them.
