Say “Hello!” to students and ask them about day and weather .

Step = 2 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT II Introduction:

T: Now let’s begin our new lesson.At first, I will introduce several old friends to you. Look at the picture! Who is he ?

Ss: He is Liu Jiapeng.

T: Iiu Jiapeng’s hobby is making models. (show the picture of making models to students to help them understand it and let them read “making models”one by one to remember it.)

Show students another picture of Bi Zhuoye and let students read the sentence “Bi Zhuoye’s hobby is collecting stamps. Show students the picture of collecting stamps to help them understand it and let them read “collecting stamps” one by one.

Step = 3 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT III Pair work

Let students read the two sentences “Liu JIapeng’s hobby is making models. Bi Zhuoye’s hobby is collecting stamps.” And then ask them “What is your hobby?” Let students work in pairs and ask and answer like this What is your hobby? My hobby is...” Several minutes later, call out several pairs to act out their conversations in class.

Step = 4 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT IV Listening ,Reading and filling

What is Patrick Moore’s hobby? Open your books at Page 105 and answer the question.

Ss open the books and answer “Studying stars.”

T: OK! Today we will learn the article :My lifetime hobby--studying stars. And show the title of the article on the screen at the same time.

Let students read the title please.

T: Now listen and read Paragraph One and fill in the blanks :

Students listen to Paragraph One and read it then finish the following exercises: When I was eight., I got a book about stars. That was the beginning of my lifetime hobby.

Show a picture to students to explain the word: lifetime.

Check the answers in class together.

Step = 5 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT V Listening,reading and answering

Well done! Now, listen to Paragraph 2 and read it, then answer the following questions about it.

1. What did he use to do ?

2. What did the sky look like?

3. In different seasons, what did they see?

4. Did they see stars shooting brightly across the sky?

Let students write down their answers on their exercise books. Call out several students to write their answers on the blackboard. Check the answers in class together. Correct the mistakes if necessary.

Step = 6 \* ROMAN \* MERGEFORMAT VI Listening, reading and telling

Very good! Now ,listen to Paragraph3 and read it, tell the following sentences T or F.

1. Study the stars was great fun for him.

2. Studying stars is his career now.

3. He hosts a TV programme called The Animal world.

4. He uses his knowledge to tell people about the stars in a boring way.
