三.Teaching Course

Class Opening and Review

Greeting

Welcome to English Class! Give the standard command greeting to welcome the students to the English class. Then listen to an English song Old MacDonald Had a Farm, ask the Ss to listen carefully and then write down the animals they hear in order. ( Animals you hear: cow, dog , cat, pig, duck), Can you tell us what other animals you know? ( Animals you can say: sheep ,chicken , fish, bird…… ) By this kind of activities to improve the ability of listening and recall the words they’ve learned before. Revise the sentences: Fish can swim. Birds can fly.

Lesson Hook

In this class , we’ll get to know more animals. What are they? What can they do? Show the topic of the new lesson

Lesson 4 Horses and Rabbits

New Concepts

1.What ’s this?

Show the pictures of horse and rabbit to learn the new words: horse(s), rabbit(s). recognize and spell the new vocabulary, notice the pronunciation of the group “-or”-,and the letter “a’

Use the pictures to help the students say out the following sentences:

Horses can run. Rabbits can jump.

Help Ss understand the meanings of “run” and “ jump” by actions: Demonstrate running. As you run, say: I can run. Run, run, run. Ask the Ss to repeat after you. Do the same thing to teach the word: jump.

Chain action to practice the two sentences:

Horses can run. Rabbits can jump.

Encourage the Ss to speak English loudly and clearly.

( Flash show: U01_L04_01_this.swf ) to check and consolidate.

Additional : She can dance; He can sing …….

Communicate with the students: fish ,birds, horses, rabbits, fly, swim, run ,and jump… Oh, it’s not so easy to learn so many words! Don’t worry, Let’s Chant!

3.Chant Creation (拍手歌谣创编) :

Teaching Tip :Sing as clapping and doing action to consolidate the new words: fly, swim, run, jump. And the animals Ss have learned as well.

Part2: Guessing Game

Can you recognize(识别,辨认) the animals from the window?

The last one: Is this a duck? Yes, it is.

.Demonstrate.

T: Can a duck swim? Help Ss answer: Yes, it can.

T: Can a chicken swim? Help Ss answer: No, it can’t.

T: No, it can’t .But it can fly. What other animal can fly?

(Ss: Birds can fly. Chickens can fly.)

T: What about horses and rabbits?
