Step1: warming-up:

Give the standard command greeting to welcome the students to the English class. I will show some animals’ pictures to review what we’ve learned before by asking them some questions, for examples: what’s this? What do …can do?

Step2 lead-in: Through the review, I lead the class to the topic of animals. In that case, I will lead to lesson4, to know more animals. First of the class, I will tell the students to have a competition with boys and girls, among group 1, group2 and group3.

Step3 new present:

Through a picture of horse, I will show the word of “horse”. By the same way to present the sentence “horses can run.” At the same time, I will write on the blackboard. Then I will ask students to read the word and the sentence one by one. If they have some mistakes on pronunciation, I will correct them on time. At last, I will ask them read it together. The same way to present “rabbit” “rabbits can jump”, and write it on the blackboard.

Step4 practice:

activity 1: let’s do it. It’s similar to the second part of the book. I will ask different students to answer the questions, “is this a cow?” “ is this a chicken?” … , in order to know about the sentence pattern.

activity2: I prepare some pictures of animals “ fish, bird, chicken, cow, sheep,..”. Then students will work in pairs, two students a pair, to guess what’s the picture. one ask, and the other can only answer “ yes, it is. No, it isn’t.”

step5 new present:

Through the PPT, I will present the sentence pattern “ can a horse run? Yes, it can. No, it can’t.” “ what animals can …? … can …”. At the same time, I will write on the blackboard. Asking different students will practice them how to answer the questions.
