四、教学准备:

点读机,多媒体课件

五、教学过程:

Review and Warm up:

Good morning, boys and girls! How are you today? I’m fine, thanks. Today, we’ll see two more animals, but first, let’s say a chant together! There are sentences in the chant that were repeated for several times: I can___. Can you___? Show the sentences on the screen and make models with them, then lead a reading practice as the students follow me. Make sure they can understand the sentences and read them. Encourage the students to join in you.

Show pictures of the fish and birds on the screen and lead a ask-and-answer drill like this:

T: What animals are they?

S: Fish and birds.

T: What can fish do?

S: Fish can swim.

T: What can birds do?

S: Birds can fly.

Then show the two sentences on the screen and read them with the students together.

New concepts:

A. horse Horses can fly. rabbit Rabbits can jump.

Show the two pictures of the horse and rabbit on the screen. Take “horse” for example: Look, this is a horse. Point to the word and read it several times as the students follow you. Then write the “horse” on the blackboard. The same way to teach the word “rabbit”.

Can a horse swim/fly? No. What can it do? Show the sentence “Horses can run.” Translate it if necessary. Then write the sentence on the blackboard. Ask individuals or groups of boys and girls read the sentence. Anyone who reads better could award other’s applause.

The same way to teach the other sentence “Rabbits can jump.” Make sure that the students could understand it.

Lead a competition through individuals to practice. At last, read these two sentences together.

B. Can a ___ ___? Yes, it can./ No, it can’t.

Show the next picture of a fish swimming in the water. Hey boys and girls, look, here is a fish. Can a fish fly? Repeat the question several times so as to help them understand it. Encourage the children to say NO! Tell them if one animal has not the ability to do something, we could answer like this: No, it can’t. Ask the students follow me to read the question and answer several times. Translate if necessary. See the next question on this page: Can a fish swim? Use the same method to tell them the way to answer it: Yes, it can. Read it. Then write the question and answers on the blackboard and read them again.

There are three more animals to practice “Can a ___ ___? Yes, it can./ No, it can’t.”Help the students if they have problems on answering the question. Give them some applause or some stickers is necessary.

After the above words and sentences, there will be another picture showing on the screen. In the picture, there is a bird and a cat. Lead a question-and-answer drill appeared on the screen: Can a cat run? Yes, it can. Can a cat swim? No, it can’t. What animals can swim? Fish can swim. Especially for the third question, encourage them to answer it with sentences we’ve learned just now or in the last lesson. Translation can be used where the students can’t understand the concepts.

Then there are three questions: What animals can run/ swim/ jump?On answering each question, encourage the children to find more animals that can do that.

Check for Understanding

This time, the students will see a cow on the screen, and also some uncompleted sentences. Ask the students to finish the gap-filling. Read the sentences first so as to they can understand them and have time to think about it. At last, show them how I fill the blanks, read the completed sentences as the students follow you.

Homework

What animals can they see at home? Can they swim? What can they do? Write down on paper.

End the Class

Say the “I can” chant again to end the class. Say goodbye to them.
