To properly use these words and phrases in a given context

【教学过程】

Step 1: Lead-in

Lead students to review the title of the newspaper article and talk about the elements (要

素) of news: who, when, where, what, why, how

Step 2: Presentation and practice

Taking the elements of news as a clue, teacher will lead the students to read through the

article again, present some key language points and have some practice.

1. Read Para 1-2:

(1) Ask three questions to help Ss review the article and present (alone; 79-year-old) and

followed by some practice

Who is the brave young man?

When did the story happen?

What did he do?

(2) How did Lin Tao know the fire?

Because he heard someone shouting.

He saw a lot of smoke coming from next door.

Present the structure "hear/ see sb. doing sth." and ask Ss to finish some sentences to

practice.

When I got home yesterday, I saw ...

In the morning, I often hear …

hear/see sb doing sth 听到(看到)某人正在做某事

hear/ see sb do sth 听到(看到)某人经常做某事或做某事的全过程

I saw a tall man walk (walk) into Mr Brown’s office just now.

She heard someone calling (call) for help just now.

(3) Present a picture of Mr s. Sun sitting in the k itchen and ask:

When Lin Tao went in, he saw Mrs Sun sitting in the kitchen.

2. Read Para 3: How did he save Mrs. Sun?

(1) Present some pictures and let Ss act out the scene to help Ss further understand some

key verbs.
