VI . Teaching procedures :

Step1: Warm-up

Greet students and talk about what we should / shouldn’t do in public .

Step2: Pre-reading:

Teach them some new words about manners by showing them different

pictures, then match the words with the meanings.

Step3: While-reading:

1. Watch the interview and answer two questions.

2. Scan the reading part and choose main idea of each topic.

3. Read lines 1-6 and answer two questions.

Think and say---Do you know any other greetings?

4. Read lines 7-9 and complete the key words.

Look and say---Why do British people like talking about the weather?

5. Read lines 10-17 and judge in pairs.

6. Read lines 18-19 and fill in the blank.

7. Read lines 20-26 and answer the question.

Step 4: Post-reading:

1. Read the conversation in roles and work out the summary.

2. Learn other manners in the UK with a game.

3. Try to be a polite person and have a quiz.

4. Watch a video and learn more about good manners in the UK.

Watch, write and say--- Talk about what the man says.

5. Read a passage about “ how to be a well-mannered person”, and finish the exercises.
