Teaching procedures:

Step 1 Lead-in

T: How old are you? How tall are you?

Do you still remember your height when you first came to this school ?

(You are growing older and taller. You are growing up.)

What comes into your mind when talking about ”growing up”?

Step 2 Presentation

1. T: Do you feel happy to grow up?

Do you want to grow up?

Does Eddie want to grow up?

Listen and check your answer.

2. Read and answer: 1.What is Eddie worrying about? Why?

2. Will Eddie build his house by himself?

3. Act out the dialogue.

Step 3 Presentation

1. T: Growing up also means that you learn more about the world. How do you learn about the world?

Show students some pictures. Ask: Do you learn about the world from your parents and relatives?.....

2. Tick three boxes that you think are the most important ways you learn about the world.

Ask some students to present their ideas.

Step4 Practice

T: Simon and Millie are talking about how they like to learn about the world. Let’s listen to their conversation and answer the following questions.

(1). How does Millie learn about the world?

(2). Why does she like to learn that way?

(3). How does Simon learn about the world?

2. Practise the dialogue in pairs.

3. Explain some words and phrases.
