Teaching Procedures:
Step 1. Lead-in
Play the song Let it Go and tell students that “The song as well as the cartoon was my favorite in 2013..” “Anna together with her sister Elsa was to save the whole nation from being frozen.”
Ask students if they have found anything special about the two sentences, and then lead in the topic “subject-verb agreement”.
Step2. Group work --- concluding
Divide the whole class into eight groups, and each group is given a piece of learning paper with large quantities of sentences using the grammar. Ask students to work in groups and try to conclude the basic usages of this situation.
Ask one representative to speak out their conclusion.
Step3. Individual work---consolidation exercises
Give students some time to finish the consolidation exercises below individually. Then check the answers .
Step 4. Competition
There are thirty exercises in all, any volunteer can choose to answer any of them one by one. Compete to see which group will be the winner.
Step 5. Homework
Do the exercises in the Workbook.
