In this class the teacher will try to help students remember and understand the vocabulary and structure of the body language, and apply them in the given situation. What’s more, students will be given a picture puzzle to analyze and evaluate, and they will work out the reasons and solutions to the situation. In this class, the teacher will try to help students understand although body language differs according to cultures, people share a lot of universal body language, with which we can read others around us, and offer help when necessary.

The teacher will also help them understand emoji as a form of popular culture is actually the symbol of body language, which is more lively and meaningful.

Teaching Procedures

I. Lead in (3minntes)

Begin the class with the topic of Wechat, and present the students a conversation on wechat. Then ask one of the students to act out the dialogue with the teacher by interpreting the emoji into words.

It’s an easy and interesting task for the students and the class will get warmed up quickly. Then the teacher will give the task:

T: In fact, emoji is the symbol of body language.Since you can interpret emoji, I am sure you can interpret the following body language.

II Speaking (25minutes)

Preparation of Vocabulary

In this section, the teacher will ask students to describe the body language showed in the picture and guess the four feelings of the boy, that is, happiness, anger, sadness and surprise. And the teacher will teach students some authentic expressions.
