教学目标

经过本节课的学习后,学生将能够

对问候卡有一个总体了解,包括其种类,结构和语言特色。

体会问候卡传递的情感,了解问候卡的功能。

独立设计不同主题的问候卡,比如道歉、慰问、结婚纪念日、恭喜所获成就等等。

四、教学过程

lead-in (free talk)

The teacher will show a picture of a greeting card, and ask students what it is.

T: I believe you must be very familiar with it. What is it? In English, we call it a greeting card. Actually it is very common for western people to send greeting cards to others as they regard it as a tradition, and they are always ready to find greeting cards in their mail boxes. Greeting cards can be found in every grocery.

【设计意图】通过图片和提问激活学生原有知识,告知学生送问候卡是西方人的一项传统。

T: Have you ever received any greeting card? And how did you feel?

T: With the development of technology, we can send wishes on the internet, for example, through Wechat, but sending greeting cards can show more sincerity. That must be the significance of the greeting cards. Sometimes, life needs rituals, so in this class we will learn how to write a greeting card in English.

【设计意图】询问学生收到贺卡时的心情,接着通过与微信发祝福的形式比较,学生能够意识到亲身写问候卡更加体现了用心,同时告诉了学生,生活要有仪式感,为接下来学习贺卡写作做好了情感铺垫。

Reading for comprehension

T: The greeting cards can have varies themes, for example, congratulations on achievemrnt, farewell, apology, wishes for festivals or special occasions, etc.

Read 6 greeting cards and write the receiver’s name on each card on page 1.

Find out the relationship of each card’s sender and receiver, and divide them into two groups: who are very close to each other, and who are not so close?

Find out the endings of each group.

【设计意图】在这一环节,学生要通过阅读理解推测每张问候卡的接收者,并理清每张问候卡发出者和接收者的关系,通过对这些关系的比较发现,不同的关系会使用不同的ending,因此在问候卡写作中,要注意根据关系的亲疏远近选择不同的结束语。

Studying the organization

T: Most cards have the same organizaion. A greeting card usually consists of four part: the name of the person you are sending the card to, your own name, the card-maker’s printed message, and a personal message. Please read the instructions and the sample card, then find the right place for each part.

T: The name of person you are sending to always follows “To” or “Dear”. Long messages are not necessay, unless there is no enough room in part c for you to write a short message.

【设计意图】学生通过阅读说明性文字及样图自主完成任务,邀请学生点出每一项的位置,从而使学生把握问候卡的规范结构。教师补充注意事项,尤其提醒学生,称呼前用To 还是Dear也要根据关系亲疏而定,以及左面的长消息是在右面短消息位置不够的情况下才写的,并非必须项。

Studying the language

Students will be asked to work in pairs to choose messages suitble for each kind of card: sympathy, thank you, birthday, new year, wedding, birth of a baby.
