学Step 1: Leading in

In this period, we will have a competition between boys and girls. Boys PK Girls. Now I will tell you the rule. If a boy answers a question or finishes a task, I will put a smiling face sticker under “Boys”. If a girl answers a question or finishes a task, I will put a smiling face sticker under “Girls”. The team who can get the word “WIN” first will be the winner. I want to know whether the boys or the girls can behave better in this period.

(设计意图:首先告诉学生本节课会有男女生PK,这个游戏会贯穿整节课,本节课结束前会看是男生还是女生先用笑脸贴完成单词WIN,看男女生哪个团队表现得更好。此活动旨在培养学生的竞争意识和课堂参与意识。)

These days some strange things happened around me. Yesterday I had a strange dream. In my dream, there are some strange noises, two men and even a strange creature. Let’s listen and guess. What is that? It might/could/must be…

(设计意图:通过情境导入法激发学生学习的兴趣,从最近我身边发生了不少奇怪的事和昨晚我做了一个奇怪的梦导入,来勾起学生的好奇心,并用听和猜的方式复习了前面所学的用情态动词表推测的用法。)

Task 1:Look and guess

Two men have appeared in my dream. Look at the pictures and guess what they are doing. You should guess like this: He might/could/must/can’t be doing. A strange creature has appeared in my dream, too. Look at the picture and tell me what it is. (An alien)Then guess what the alien is doing by answering like this: It might/could/must/can’t be doing. After guessing, I explain the usage of the modal verbs to make inferences of the present continuous action: must/might/could/can’t be doing.

(设计意图:展示一些部分被遮挡的图片,让学生猜测图中人物正在进行的动作,能迅速激发学生的兴趣,同时又能练习并讲解本课重要句型,用情态动词+be doing来对现在正在进行的动作表推测,并进一步强化了各情态动词表推测的用法,另外学习了词汇alien和land,真正做到了在玩中学。)

Task 2:Look and describe

This morning, on my way to school, I saw something unusual on the street. So I took some photos. Now look at the pictures and make as many inferences as possible: He/They/It can’t/might/could/must be doing.

(设计意图:从昨晚奇怪的梦中的情景到今早在上班路上看到的奇怪的景象,自然过渡到了本课1a的三幅图,让学生谈论并猜测这三幅图的内容,看谁能做出更多的猜测,同时继续操练情态动词+be doing表猜测的用法,另外学习了词汇suit和短语run after。)

Task 1: Predict the order

You know these three pictures are in the same story. Which picture do you think might be the first? Ask students to predict the order of the three pictures like this: I think picture a might be the first one because the UFO must land first, and then the alien can get out and run after the man.

(设计意图:描述并猜测完每副图的内容后,引导学生充分发挥想象力和观察力,预测故事内容,为后面的听力做好听前铺垫。)
