How to improve the students’ reading ability.

Teaching Aid: A multimedia player”

Teaching procedures:

Step 1. Greeting and Warming-up

To ask the students to review the exclamations and make some sentences

with” how” and “what” according to the pictures.

Step 2. Presentation

Listen to some kinds of music and ask the students to guess what type of music it is.

After guessing the type of the music, the students watch a short video about each kind of the music, and talk about the features of classical music, pop music and folk music.

To ask the students to have an extensive reading, and judge the sentences TRUE or FAISE.

To ask the students to have an intensive reading, and fill in the key words according to the text.

Step 3. Practice

Watch the video about the text, and choose one student to read the text, and others follow him or her. It can not only practice students’ oral English but also master the text better.

Step 4. Consolidate

I will ask students to read the text again by themselves, then they will retell the text using the key words. It can help the students remember the key points what they have learnt today better.

Step 5. Production

The students will make a survey. They will ask their partners what kind of music they like and why they like it. Then they will make a report according to the result of the survey. It can help the students improve the abilities of speaking and reading,

Summary and homework

Summarize the main contents about the music we’ve learnt in this class .
